Bandhavgarh National Park is no ordinary park, it was here that last white tiger was saved from extingtion. Though now roar of the such tigers is limited to zoo across the world.The park derived its name from a legend during Ramayana and the name Bhandavgarh meaning "Brother's Fort" said to made for Laxman the younger brother of Lord Rama. This place now is more famous for something else the "The Royal Bengal Tiger"
The World Heritage listed Bharatpur National Park as one of the finest National Park in India. It houses more than 415 kinds of birds, out of which 117 birds migrate from places as far away as Siberia and China. This bird sanctuary also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park even houses sambar, chital, nilgai and boar. The park covers an area of 29 sq. km. out of which 11 sq. km. are marshes and the rest is scrubland and grassland. Every time I visit Corbett National Park, I am reminded of episodes from the Indian epics -- the Ramayana and Mahabarata,'' I told my friend who, however, refused to believe me. ``Today, there are few places that can be related to the thick jungles vividly illustrated in the epics...''

The Ranthambhore National Park was once the hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur. In 1957, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary and was later given the status of a National Park. With the commissioning of Project Tiger, it was included in this ambitious nation-wide project in 1974 to protect the striped feline, which was steadily declining in numbers.
